An Interview With Myke Hideous ctd.

AR:  Do you enjoy being nestled in the world of strangeness or do you ever have dreams of becoming a yuppie?

MH:  I don't think I'm in a world of "strangeness" at all.  I think everybody else is fucked up.  Not me.  People who are living in a world of strangeness are the child molesters and the cannibalistic murderers.  Disgruntled postmen who walk into their place of work and gun down innocent victims.  rapists who fuck their victims and then dismember their bodies piece by piece.  50% of the population who watch prime time television talk shows like Ricki Lake, Jerry Springer, and Sally Jesse Raphael. (a prime example of "strangeness" in our country.) The whole fucking whole is turning to shit with every step we take towards progress. Little by little humanity is digging its own grave right in its own backyard: Earth. I'm sick of people. I'm sick of being seen as a "weirdo" or being called "strange." Fuck humanity! Everywhere I look, there's some sign of how "humanity was here and fucked up something natural." No one cares anymore. No one realizes the consequences they or their child will someday face. We're all doomed as far as I'm concerned. I steadily point my finger at society and government for all that will someday come crashing down in a bloody, violent rebellion against the system. We are like a plague to this planet. Everyday eating away at it like cancer without a cure. We're all headed for the same misfortune. Fuck yuppies. And everybody else for that matter.

AR: Just curious--What do you think of Marilyn Manson?

MH: I was really diggin' Manson before he got into the whole glam thing. I still believe he's very smart to have gotten himself to where he is, although now he has to continually watch his back because of the fucked-up Christians that want to kill him for luring their child away. You've got to admit, on his way up to stardom, he used some very out of the ordinary methods to claim his fame. How many rock stars have ever gotten on national television for an award and preached that Christianity will no longer be the suppresor of his revolt? None that I know of. He's totally right! The whole country is run by Christians. Well maybe not the whole country, but definitely "white America." He has broken all the rules and reached a plateau that will gain him everlasting noteriety. Even if he doesn't last in the music business, he made a name for himself by being in the right place at the right time. Bot to give credit due where it belongs.

AR: Is Empire Hideous back for good, or do you have any new projects planned? Do tell!

MH: Hideous will be back in the year 2000. In the meantime I'm writing the book and am currently working on a new band called SS99(SPY SOCIETY 99) with Joe Pla of EROTOMECHANICS.

AR: Can you tell me a bit about the two new Empire Hideous releases?

MH: After returning from the South American tour with The Misfits, I called up ex-Hideous guitarist, Jeff Austin and asked him if he would be intersted in working with me on producingtwo CD's of the last line-ups final endeavors. He agreed and in late August we headed into a recording studio to fine tweak and master the last recordings.
The first one we working on was of our last performance at The Bank in NYC. The name of the album is called I'M DEAD, YOU'RE DEAD, WE'RE ALL DEAD-LIVE. The next thing we worked on was a live studio session we did back on January 1st, 1998. That session included more than 20 new and reworked songs that we recorded that day. I ended up using what I thought would be best to release, which were eight new tracks, two reworked tracks and three tracks taken from our EP cassette, ACT IV: IT'S JUST A MATTER OF TIME," on Black Vatican Records. A total of 13 tracks under the title of VICTIM DESTROYS ASSAILANT. I had no backing from any label and released them solely on invested money I made from touring. I did, however, release them on a local independent label called DISMAL ABYSMAL RECORDINGS, and are exclusively availible through MIDDLE PILLAR RECORDS & DISTRINUTORS. I also hand-numbered all of the CD's and they were released on Halloween of '98.

AR: Tell me more about Spy Society 99 . . . How did it get started?

MH: SS99 got started simply by me calling up a few musicians I knew and asking them if they would play a show with me if I booked it at CBGB's, in NYC. When they said "yes," I booked the show and we were off to steady rehearsals. Once guitarist Jsep Pla saw my dedication in the project, he was inspired to stay on and work more with me, which was a good thing considering how much I had always admired Joe for his talent.

AR: How is it different from Empire Hideous?

MH: I'm sort of incorporating swing and lounge music with death rock, coining the new term, "Death Lounge." I'm having a little bit more of a fun time with his project as opposed to the seriousness of Empire Hideous. Who knows what will happen if people like us?

AR: Any other future plans?

MH: Always.
